Acceptable Use Policy
Effective date: 25 May 2026 · Last updated: 25 May 2026
1. Scope
This Acceptable Use Policy explains the conduct we do not allow on Circkit. It applies to the website, app, APIs, AI features, festival data, support channels, and any other service we provide. It forms part of our Terms of Service.
You are responsible for activity on your account and for making sure anyone you invite to work on a project follows these rules.
2. Illegal, harmful, or deceptive use
You must not use Circkit to:
- Break any applicable law, regulation, sanctions rule, festival rule, or rights-holder obligation.
- Harass, threaten, defame, exploit, or target any person, festival, programmer, filmmaker, distributor, agent, juror, or audience member.
- Upload or share content that you do not have the right to process, submit, or distribute.
- Misrepresent a film, credit, selection, award, premiere status, ownership position, or relationship with a festival or award body.
3. AI misuse
You must not use Circkit or any AI Output to:
- Create, assist, distribute, or submit deepfakes or synthetic media that mislead people about who appeared in, endorsed, authorised, selected, or programmed a film.
- Impersonate another filmmaker, producer, festival, programmer, sales agent, distributor, juror, publicist, or award body.
- Generate fake credits, fake laurels, fake recommendation letters, fake reviews, fake selection notices, or fake eligibility claims.
- Hide required AI disclosures where a festival, broadcaster, funder, guild, union, regulator, or law requires disclosure.
- Use AI Output as a substitute for professional legal, tax, distribution, clearance, union, or rights advice.
4. Scraping and data extraction
You must not:
- Scrape, crawl, index, harvest, copy, bulk download, or reconstruct Circkit data without our prior written consent.
- Use bots, automated scripts, browser automation, shared credentials, or credential stuffing to access the Service.
- Extract festival data, programmer intelligence, award routes, fit scores, pricing, or prompts to build or improve a competing service.
- Bypass technical controls, rate limits, authentication, metering, paywalls, robots rules, or security protections.
5. Spam and abusive submissions
You must not use Circkit to:
- Send spam, bulk outreach, unsolicited submissions, chain communications, or deceptive festival communications.
- Flood festivals, programmers, jurors, press, distributors, or sales agents with repeated or automated messages.
- Submit a project in bad faith, including where you know the film is ineligible, mislabelled, or missing required rights.
- Use contact or intelligence features to pressure, harass, or manipulate festival staff or other filmmakers.
6. Account sharing and tier limits
You must not:
- Share login credentials, sell account access, pool accounts across unrelated productions, or let another person use your account to avoid paying for their own access.
- Create duplicate accounts to claim extra free usage, reset limits, avoid enforcement, or continue after suspension.
- Circumvent project limits, strategy-generation limits, AI usage limits, storage limits, seat limits, billing controls, or feature gates.
- Use free or discounted plans for agency, consultancy, festival, distributor, school, or commercial team use unless the plan explicitly allows it.
7. Security and platform integrity
You must not:
- Probe, scan, test, attack, disrupt, overload, or degrade Circkit or our providers.
- Upload malware, malicious files, exploit code, harmful links, or content designed to compromise another system.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive source code, prompts, models, infrastructure, or non-public data except where mandatory law allows it.
- Interfere with another user, project, file, subscription, support request, or integration.
8. Enforcement
We may investigate suspected violations and take action we reasonably consider necessary, including warning you, removing content, limiting features, suspending or terminating accounts, refusing refunds where permitted by law, preserving evidence, and cooperating with law enforcement, regulators, payment providers, infrastructure providers, festivals, or rights holders.
To report suspected misuse, email legal@circkit.io.
